EV Innovations (EVII.OB) Catches Eye of Popular Mechanics with Entry into X-Prize Competition

Not being the first time EV Innovations has caught their attention, Popular Mechanics has once again featured the company and its 100% lithium-powered vehicles. As many auto enthusiasts already know, the 2009 New York International Auto Show is currently in progress. Unfortunately it hasn’t turned out to be much of a battlefield, according to Popular Mechanics, with the exception of EV Innovations’ latest vehicle.

EV Innovations’ Wave is a curvacious plug-in electric two-seater that boasts a range of up to 200 miles, a top speed of around 80 mph, and an affordable price tag just north of $30,000 when it becomes available to consumers next year. The vehicle is far less expensive than the company’s electric supercar, the Inizio, which can reach 170 mph, has a range of 200 miles between charges and will cost appox. $139,000 when it hits production late this year or early 2010.

The company is still in the process of deciding which of its two electric vehicles is going to enter in the X-Prize competition. “We have to decide which one we put out there to get all the attention: The Wave, which is a car you can take to work every day, or the more powerful Inizio,” said Ron Cerven, EV Innovations’ program manager and director of product design.

In a way, it's a pretty scary world out there. Perhaps EVI has to ultimately shake hands with big players - and once they've got you by the hand, you never know where you're going to get tossed.

EV Innovations Inc. (EVII.OB) Receives Massive Attention from Prominent Media

EV Innovations Inc., an inventive company offering high-end, high power sports vehicles as well as practical and more affordable lithium powered transportation, has received extensive media coverage as it showcased two distinctly different plug in electric vehicles at the 2009 New York International Auto Show.

EV Innovations captivated the attention of the Wall Street Journal, CNNMoney, Popular Mechanics, The New York Times, Motor Trend, Car And Driver, CBS and others. The company was applauded by The New York Times as the only “splash” at this year’s show, complimenting the serving of champagne as the company celebrated the introduction of their two latest vehicles, the WAVE and INIZIO, during a press conference.

Steve Gelsi of the Wall Street Journal recognizes the challenge for manufacturers to keep costs of electric vehicles down, and reported that EV Innovations appears to be the most competitive with what is available on the market today. Popular Mechanics commented on the company’s “curvaceous plug in,” the WAVE, and said that their INIZIO EVS will be a strong contender in the $7.5 million X Prize Competition.

When the New York Times calls the company "the only SPLASH at this year's show", and the Wall Street Journal says that the company "appears to be the most competitive --- on the market today", what more could you want?

The company is facing a critical point right now. It's talking with big people in an unpredictable marketplace. It could be the most exciting time in the company's history.

EV Innovations Inc. (EVII.OB) to Begin Production of 4-Seat All-Electric WAVE Following Continual Positive Response

EV Innovations Inc., 21st Century Design & Engineering of emission-free automotive propulsion systems using the latest lithium battery technology, announced yesterday after the closing bell that it has received continual positive feedback from the public and dealers regarding their new WAVE electric vehicle at the 2009 Auto Show. The company is very pleased with the outcome.

The ongoing positive reviews have compelled the company to fast-forward the development of its WAVE-S4, a 4-seat version of the vehicle targeting family transportation. Boasting a drive range of up to 170 miles on a single charge and a speed of over 80mph, the eco-friendly vehicle is practical and affordable at a $39,900 price point.

You can see the WAVE and the company’s other new product, the INIZIO-EVS super sports car, on display in Booth 1424 on Level 1 at the 2009 New York International Auto Show through April 19, 2009.
