The Profitable Business of MMA – Good News for The Fight Zone, Inc. (TFZI.PK)

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has been enjoying a flourishing birth here in the United States and The Fight Zone, Inc. is on the threshold for capturing such an engaging audience. If you aren’t familiar with MMA, you soon will be. Mixed Martial Arts has been covered by 60 minutes and has a wide pay-per-view audience with the highly prized demographic of men 18-34.

Although it’s not a sport for everyone, it’s certainly much more civilized then previous incarnations of the sport in the mid-90’s. These days, there are 31 fouls, and the fighters don’t come at each other bare-fisted anymore. They’re required to use special gloves with a little bit of padding over the knuckles. No kicks to the groin anymore, no stomping your opponent once he’s down. The octagon itself is 30 feet across. There’s padding under the fighters’ feet, and they put the fence around it so the fighters don’t go rolling out onto the floor. This sport may be intense, but the risk of brain injury is actually much lower than that of Traditional Boxing.

To give you an image of the market size interested in MMA, The International Fight League just went public and it is valued at more than $150 million. The Fight Zone provides complete services including discipline training, strength and conditioning training, management, marketing and sponsorship programs. The Fight Zone provides all the resources necessary to quickly develop fighters to a Pay-Per-View (PPV) level. At the Pay-Per-View level, audiences of 600,000-700,000 are common at the headliner matches and at $40 each, the money adds up fast. $28 million alone on the event that 60 minutes covered.

The Fight Zone, Inc.’s (TFZI.PK) Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman Prepares to Fight at “Raw Combat: Resurrection”

The Fight Zone announced today that Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman will be at “Raw Combat: Resurrection” on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Max Bell Centre in Calgary, Alberta to fight Denis Kang. Kang is a top ranked MMA fighter and has fought victoriously against Japanese legend Akihiro Gono and Brazilian Murilo “Ninja” Rua.

Lloyd Vickers, President and CEO of The Fight Zone, stated, “The Fight Zone is pleased to showcase its talent of fighters in sporting events around the world, and the opportunity to expose ‘The Fight Zone’ merchandise, brand and its sponsors. Marvin ‘The Beastman’ Eastman is a UFC veteran and we are extremely confident he will release the beast out of the ‘Beastman’ and get back to his winning ways.”

“It took us about 6 months to get this show off the ground and we’re starting to roll now. Our next show is going to bring down the house with our main event… I think this is going to be a great stand-up war. If it does go to the ground, Marvin is going to have to find a way to deal with Kang’s jiu-jitsu skills. It’s going to be the fight of the night guaranteed,” Raw Combat President Dave Houshiar commented.

The Fight Zone, Inc. (TFZI.PK): An Investment Opportunity in the Mixed Martial Arts World

The Fight Zone, Inc. (TFZI.PK) is dedicated to developing and promoting the mixed martial arts (MMA) world and their athletes. The company’s core focus is set on developing and producing only world-class fighters. The Fight Zone provides complete services including discipline training, strength and conditioning training, management, marketing and sponsorship programs.

Mixed martial arts, known mainly as MMA, is a full contact combat sport in which the participants draw from a variety of fighting disciplines including jiu-jitsu, karate, wrestling, boxing, and many others, in order to submit or knockout their opponent. There is no doubt that MMA is easily the fastest growing sport in the United States, especially among the 18-35 age demographic, and around the world in Japan, Western and Eastern Europe, and several other Asian countries.

It is no secret that MMA is big business. The dominant fighting organization in the United States is the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC), which will likely exceed $250 million in revenue in 2008. Although the UFC has seen an increase in competitors, they are still on the top of the food chain, and the majority of those competitors have had short lived success trying to mix up the world of MMA.

To date, there are only a few publically traded companies within the world of MMA. One of those companies is Pro-Elite, Inc. (PELE) which earlier this year struck a deal with CBS to launch a series of fight cards to be aired by the cable network. The success has yet to be seen, but the organization is signing major talent.

The Fight Zone has an aggressive platform for growth in the MMA business over the coming years. The company’s strategy of working to cross promote events, one of the main differences between them and Pro-Elite, should ultimately prove to be successful, as well as their unique team-oriented sponsorship program designed to place promotions and licensed goods not only on one fighter or in one venue, but on all fighters, regardless of where and when they fight. With 30 million shares outstanding, the total market capitalization of The Fight Zone is only $13.5 million, possibly making the company’s shares one of the best bargains in MMA investing and a low cost way for small cap investors to play the dynamic growth of this booming sport and industry.

The Fight Zone, Inc. (TFZI.PK) Announces the Availability of a New Report on the Mixed Martial Arts Industry

The Fight Zone Inc., a company focused on the development and promotion of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports and its athletes on a global basis, announced today that Emerging Growth Research, LLP has published a research report highlighting investment opportunities within the rapidly growing market for mixed martial arts. The report covers specific reasons why MMA is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide as well as The Fight Zone’s potential within the industry.

“MMA is grabbing the attention of young male teenagers before they are able to develop an interest in traditional ’stick and ball’ sports. While the NBA dominates urban youth sports culture, MMA is beginning to dominate suburban youth sports culture. Purchasing power among American suburban youth outpaces that of their urban counterparts to a significant degree. This accelerating trend has advertisers and clothing companies especially excited,” commented the report’s author Joseph Noel, principal analyst at Emerging Growth Research, LLP.

He continued, “There is a compelling argument that MMA has already eclipsed boxing and will likely do the same to hockey by mid-2009. We strongly believe the mixed martial arts industry will continue to see strong growth over the coming years.”

Lloyd Vickers, President and CEO of The Fight Zone, Inc., stated, “We are excited to have been included in the new research report and to have received such a strong stock rating. As the number of MMA fans continues to boom and as leading corporate sponsors move toward the sport, we believe our business will continue to grow. It’s a very exciting time for all of us at The Fight Zone and for everyone involved in the business of mixed martial arts.”

Will The Fight Zone (TFZI.PK) be Part of the Sport Revolution?

For many years, the major four sports, A.K.A. the “Big Four,” in the United States have been football, baseball, basketball and hockey. While other sports have generated large incomes and interest such as boxing and wrestling, the “Big Four” seemed untouchable. The Fight Zone and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) may change the way the world looks at sports and MMA may sneak into the “Big Four” in the very near future.

MMA is a full contact sport that includes a mix of boxing, wrestling and martial arts. While violent and controversial, the sport has an incredible amount of live and television appeal. While many stadiums and casino-type forms have drawn large crowds for MMA events, television has become the main-stay for this young sport.

The leader in the MMA arena is Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). UFC will likely exceed $250 million in revenues in 2008 and a significant part of this income is generated from pay-per-view events which typically run from $20 to $75 per viewing and garner an average of between 10,000 and 50,000 orders. While MMA powerhouses such as UFC are becoming household names, companies such as The Fight Zone are starting to make a mark in this sport which is growing at a rapid pace.

The Fight Zone, Inc. is a young and prospering company based out of Colorado that is dedicated to developing and promoting MMA sports and its athletes to the world. The Fight Zone has a reputation for developing and producing world class fighters and is becoming a major challenge to UFC.

Perhaps the biggest reason companies such as UFC and The Fight Zone are taking flight is due to the demographic appeal of the sport. The target audience of MMA is suburban males in the 18-34 age range. Many of these consumers are affluent and view this sport as “their own” and have challenged hockey and the fourth element of the “Big Four.”

While hockey is still followed in the United States, it has always been viewed as “Canada’s Game” and the NHL strike, the game has simply not recovered viewership. With the decline of hockey and the fact that the MMA fans have the money to fund their beloved sport, company’s like UFC and The Flight Zone could lead MMA into the hearts of all sports fans, and with this new found success, the sky could be the limit.

The Fight Zone, Inc. (TFZI.OB) is Entering a Market That Could be Full of Rewards

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States. With the first matches taking place back in 1993, MMA was once a pure underground sport, but beginning in this century new rules and investors gave the enterprise a new look.

In 1997, MMA literally went underground after being banned throughout most of the United States. After strict rules were imposed and a successful public relations effort was launched by the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) and Zuffa, LLC, the company that purchased the UFC, MMA began to be sanctioned by various boxing and other sports commissions. This rehabilitation process ultimately paid-off, and in 2001 the UFC returned to Pay-Per-View television and with it a new audience.

Today, MMA is dominated by the UFC in the United States, which is primarily owned by a holding company called Zuffa, LLC. It is estimated the UFC commands at least 80%, up to possibly 90%, of the entire mixed martial arts market. While there is no indication the UFC’s dominance will waver anytime soon, there are many who believe and anticipate that the organization will be losing some of their star fighters, as they age or want to fight in other organizations around the world. There have been much publicized criticisms of UFC’s President, Dana White, by current and past fighters regarding pay disputes and contract negotiations.

New fight organizations continue to enter the mixed martial arts market. Affliction, a leading clothing brand, and Donald Trump have partnered to form Affliction Entertainment in order to promote MMA events and the Affliction clothing brand name. Affliction entertainment has also seen some successes, with their first event generating over $2 million in gate receipts and nearly 100,000 pay-per-view buys.

The Fight Zone, Inc. is focused on developing and promoting Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) sports, as well as its athletes, on a global basis. The company is strategically positioning itself in this industry as it is one of the fastest growing industries in the nation, and is committed to developing the highest level of fighters. The company’s services encompass discipline training, strength and conditioning training, management, marketing and sponsorship programs.

The Fight Zone, Inc. (TFZI.PK) Takes Mixed Martial Arts to the Public

Mixed martial arts (MMA) is sport that most Americans are just learning about. The Fight Zone, Inc. (TFZI.PK) is taking the reins when it comes to getting the word out about the sport by aggressively managing, developing, and marketing events. MMA is a full contact sport that artfully blends skills from wrestling, boxing, and martial arts. MMA is quickly becoming the fastest growing sport in North America and has grabbed the attention of 18 to 34-year-old males, which is a key spending demographic group.

Interestingly, the ancient Greeks had a form of MMA in the early Olympic Games. Pankration, which means “all powers”, actually combined wrestling and boxing skills. Matches would traditionally last for hours and end when one of the participants was “tapped out” by either being pinned down or placed in a hold that could result in a significant injury, knock out, or even death. Due to the violence involved, historians continue to draw parallels between pankration and the current version of MMA. But even the Etruscans and the Romans had their own versions of unarmed combat sports where the participants followed rules.

In the 1920s, Vale Tudo was developed in Brazil. Vale Tudo, which means “anything goes” in Portuguese, takes combat techniques from Jujitsu, Muay Thai, Sambo, wrestling, and boxing. This early form of MMA continued throughout Brazil into the 1930s and other varying forms of the sport continued during the late 70s and 80s. Our current form of MMA can directly traced to mixed style events held throughout Japan and other Pacific Rim countries in the early 1990s. But it was in 1993 that Brazilian jujitsu fighter Royce Gracie brought MMA into the limelight by submitting three challengers in five minutes at the first Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) tournament.

The Fight Zone is taking an essential role at promoting the new sport to the public. The fighters that participate in MMA are not specialists in karate or jujitsu or wrestling. The successful fighters are those individuals who are able to learn and adapt their technique to any style based upon who they are fighting against. The Fight Zone should continue to flourish if they take the same stance of observing their opponents and adapting their style to win.

So after briefly reading these posts and some other info about the company, I have a few questions:

Is TFZI a marketing/agent/promotion organization? Is is a training camp? Is it a media business? Is it a fight league?

ProElite is now out of business and all their assets and fighter contracts are for sale. Is TFZI looking into any of this?

I am a business man and a big fan of the sport. I think cross-promotion is the way to go...and will help the sport gain more mainstream popularity.
